Gizmodo <3's Quantum of Solace

"Yes, the new Bond has some really cool gadgets in it. I don't mean cheesy stupid mini-rockets firing from the exhaust pipe of an Aston Martin or laser watches that can cut through steel and french lingerie. I mean cool, believable technology that integrates in the movie transparently."
Very nice review from the folks over at Gizmodo! Awesome!

Stash 42 Featuring MK12's History of America!

The new issue of stash is coming out and guess who is in it! Yeah alright -- i know I already said it in the title but still! You should check it out, because not only is the History of America on there, we cut together a 4 minute making of movie that is pretty funny to watch and gives some insight to the process behind making the film. Excellent! You can watch the podcast here - the trailer here - and look at the PDF here - and see all of these links on their site and get off mine here

the artist has fingerprints (continuation) ..

awhile back i started posting some stuff about my process in making things.. in particular how i try to keep my fingerprints in my art.. whether that means keeping things from not being 100% vector, or adding textures to bring back some organic feeling into images...
either way - here is a little of the process of making the history of america swag bags. from making the graphic in illustrator, printing it out in reverse, transferring that to something to cut out, exacto-fy the image, tape up the back so it last longer, and spray paint 500 bags.

diggin' through folders...

whew. sorry folks this has been quite the non-posting month i've had in awhile.. but hopefully things will get back up to speed... especially since I am now a proud parent of a G5. (yippie) and also am getting better (was sick). Either way, back on topic.. i was digging through folders of stuff on my work machine to copy over to my home box, and found all of these great pitch styleboards I've worked on. Working on pitches is one of the hardest and funniest moments of being in this motion graphics industry.... you are rushed to create new and innovative designs, and graphic worlds in like a quarter of the time it would normally take you, AND Execute them.. which is usually the hard part. Here is a frame that came out of when we first pitched on Stranger Than Fiction.. :) maybe i'll post some more later...

This caption says a thousand words... ok not really.. it says what it says, but still.. it made me happy because I made that trailer page.. and it has 'smart' and 'design' nest to each other.. it was fun and awhile back but still.. niceeeeeee

mr.spaceman

sorry for the lack of post as of late. It's been a bit hectic over on my end. working on history of america full time while moving into our new building and also trying to prepare for travels. for those that constantly ask me "is it done yet" - we are there folks. after 4 years of on and off work, i'm proud to say its done.. not 100% - there is a few small details left to be worked out, but really its done. we're excited, and we're almost ready to show you. look forward to big mk12 news - maybe it is good timing with so much crap going on in the world to get you down, we hope to deliver a big smile and joy to your little mk12 loving hearts.

:)

MK12, it's in the title...

Last December... (and no i don't mean December 2006) I mean the LAST LAST one... like 2005. We did our shoot for History of America here in Kansas City, Missouri. Now, you might be asking why i'm telling you a story from that long ago? Because I CAN! No really, because we did a 10 day shoot, and now are in the process of finishing our short(long) film. Either way, here is some screen grabs of what our 'take' sign would often say. It changed a few times a day and it started out actually being correct in the beginning of the shoot, but by the end... as you can tell... it was all over the place hehe.. here is like..5 or 6 from like 1000 hehe.
